Highlights of the Team India Victory Parade: On Thursday, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium hosted a celebration for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and the winning T20 World Cup team. A large open-top bus parade around the city was part of the festivities, albeit delays were caused by weather and traffic.
After enduring Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, Team India set out on their return voyage. On Thursday, they touched down in New Delhi and then took a flight to Mumbai for the victory ceremony. After a protracted absence, the team is back after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean.
The T20 World Cup winning parade for the Indian cricket team began at Marine Drive and ended at Wankhede Stadium, with them arriving at the NCPA. At the international airport in Mumbai, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, they were met with a boisterous reception.
Upon their arrival at Delhi Airport, the Men’s Indian Cricket Team celebrated their triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Fans flocked to the airport in anticipation of seeing the victorious team.
Following a three-day delay caused by a category 4 hurricane, the Indian cricket team finally left for Delhi on a specially chartered jet after defeating South Africa in the T20 World Cup in Barbados.
The “Air India Champions 24 World Cup,” or AIC24WC, is an Air India charter aircraft that departed at 4:50 a.m. local time and is scheduled to arrive in Delhi on Thursday at roughly 6:20 a.m. (IST).
In celebration, Captain Rohit Sharma uploaded a picture of himself holding the trophy on the plane to Instagram with the message, “Coming home.”
The complete squad, support personnel, player families, board members, and journalists are on the BCCI-arranged flight. Their campaign culminated in an exciting seven-run triumph over South Africa in the final last Saturday.
Due to the aircraft’s delayed arrival, the flight that was originally planned to depart on July 2 at 6 p.m. local time was delayed, and the return to India was rescheduled for Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. (IST).
Soon after touchdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present the team with awards upon their arrival. Jay Shah also declared that a victory parade would take place in Mumbai, Maharashtra, at 5 p.m.
The winning team of Rohit Sharma will arrive in Mumbai on Thursday by an open-top bus following their postponed return from Bridgetown. The National Centre for Performing Arts at Nariman Point will be the starting point of the parade, which ends at Wankhede Stadium at 4 p.m.
